Volunteering at the hospital ...

Since April 2009 I've been volunteering at the VA hospital in the substance dependence treatment program under two Psychologists. Three days a week I come here from 9 am to 2 pm. Except now that I'm doing substitute teaching to get some extra cash I don't come all three days like I used to. Why am I doing this? In hopes for a job that I went to college for! What have I gained from doing what I do here? Experience in working with individuals with substance dependence issues. Where's my job? I have no earthly idea =[ The openings they have are always for those with their Master's degree, which I won't have for quite some time since I'm not in graduate school yet. Sometimes ... a lot of times ... I think they should just hire me as their "assistant" since I pretty much do a lot of their work for them ... Anyways .. now that I come less than I used to because of my other part time job I usually just do patient reviews or case reviews or update their patient database which is kinda boring but if this is what I have to do to get a job then I must endure!

Sometimes I get cool things ... like little phamphlets on how to stop smoking and about alcoholism and such .. so I like to bring them to work and give them to some of the people I work with because lots of people in restaurant business have some type of substance use/abuse/dependence ....

And on this note ... I'm out ..

Wtf? There's a random person in my picture!

You know when you take a picture and it's like the perfect picture but then you notice some random person in the background POSING for your picture and they completely ruin it?? And you're like wtf who is that and why are they in my picture??

The other day I was at the mall with one of my friends and that random person in the background was ME! bahaha ... we were walking by a fountain in the mall and I happened to be laughing at him because of something he said and I saw this guy taking pictures of this woman and you know how when the camera's about to take a picture the flash blinks before it takes the picture? That's how I knew the right time to smile cheesy and throw up a peace sign! And my friend was like "WTF did you just pose for their picture????" And I just started laughing and couldn't stop because it was too funny .... and then he shook his head "I can't believe you were the random person in someone's picture" and I laughed some more until we got to Build-A-Bear where the guys were there were just laughing jokes ...

It's all good though =] because if you have photoshop skills or know someone who does you can easily photoshop the random person out of your picture ^_~ like I have done before ... so no real harm done .. hehe ..

My 1st sub job

So today I had my first subbing job at an elementary school just outside the old neighborhood I used to live in. It was for elementary school music and was supposed to be a half day but the teacher made a mistake and needed a whole day so I was there for the whole day. First group was kindergarten. I think they were my favorite of the bunch, they were so cute and they just came up to me and hugged me without knowing who I was or saying anything and I was just like "awwwww...how cute!" The second bunch was 4th graders, and I thought I would have some control trouble with them but they were pretty well behaved. One of them, his name is Christian, decided to ask me to be his date to their Valentine's Day Dance next Friday night. It was kinda cute but also pretty awkward ... Then I had 5th graders and they were pretty good after being threatened to be sent to detention if any of them gave me problems. Some of them were taller than me =\ how sad is that? I'm 5'3" and some of them were looking down at me *sigh* Then I had about 35 minutes to myself to chill and sit in quietness lol. Then the 1st graders .... I thought they would be cute like the kinder kids, but oh they were the little devils >.< I had to send someone to get the Principal for me because they all kept running around misbehaving and ignoring me, even after the Principal came they started to misbehave a little..jeez. Then 2nd grade came and they were pretty well behaved, didn't give me much problem. Last group was 3rd grade, and they were fine until the end of the period when I allowed them to talk quietly amongst themselves they got loud and the Principal came to yell at them because they kept ignoring me -_-" But yeah ... that was kinda fun .. and interesting ... gives me an idea of what grade I'd potentially want to teach if I decided to do teaching ... But anyways I was so hungry afterwards, I didn't bring any food with me because I wasn't expecting to stay the whole day, but thank goodness for the snacks in my purse ^_~ I don't have anything for tomorrow and I can't really take anything for tomorrow because I work at my other job at 4 pm so that would interfere if I did take a job for tomorrow anyways ...

Next week I'll be better prepared hopefully ... *crosses fingers*

So ....

I've been doing this thing where I write "Dear Diary" entries to one of my very best friends every week. I try to do it everyday so that it's still fresh from my memory but sometimes I get busy so I can't =[ and then my entry is a little vague, but it's still okay! Anyways, I started doing this back in September. At first it was just because I was bored and I haven't seen her in a while so I figured "why not update her on my life and make it funny and cute" and then it became a daily thing because she's busy with her work and life and vice versa, that way she's still up to date on things about me =] and we don't lose touch. For a while I stopped writing, maybe about a week or so and then I saw her and she was like "why don't you write me Dear Diaries anymore?" and I was like "oh .. do you like them that much?" and she was like "yes .. I read them throughout my day at work and they make my day because they're so funny" and I was like "really? but I don't do anything that interesting >.<" and she was like "compared to my boring life .. work .. go home .. sleep .. wake up .. etc .. it is and I live vicariously through that" and I was like .. "=D oh okay! I'll keep writing to you" and now it's February and I'm still writing her "Dear Diary" entries ...

it's a fun little project I think ... and it's a good way to keep in touch with friends ... and ... if I ever become famous and decide to write an autobiography I can always refer to my e-mails that I sent my friend and it'll be a pretty accurate autobiography don't you think? ^_~
